Over 17 years of experience treating patients.
Samantha has been in the Brisbane Health Industry for many years, 16 year of these as an Acupuncturist, originally from a Dental Assistant/Practice Manager background. Samantha's involvement with Martial arts for her fitness generated an interest and understanding of Qi (chi) and the flow of movement and energy. This led her to search for further knowledge of the theory behind the practice leading to Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
She completed her Bachelor of Health Science Degree in Acupuncture at Endeavour College of Natural Health (formerly Australian College of Natural Medicine) which is a four-year Health Science Degree consisting of both Biomedical Sciences and Chinese Medicine subjects. She is a current member of The Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) and is also a Registered Acupuncturist with The Chinese Medicine Registration Board. (AHPRA) Samantha also holds a blue card.
A Holistic Approach to Treatment
The Intricacies of Acupuncture has become a passion for Dr Samantha Mulcahy (Registered Acupuncturist), and she thrives on unravelling each and every condition right back to the root cause. Samantha’s special interests are Pain and Sport injuries, Emotional health, Women and young women’s health and all aspects of fertility in a Preparatory role or in a supporting role in conjunction with Primary Medical Practitioners.
The Musculoskeletal system, sports injuries, or general aches and pains originated from her many years of Netball to Tae Kwon Do then recently Muay Thai , Qigong and a brief time at Boxing. As Samantha moved up to higher belts at TKD, she decided she wanted to study Acupuncture. To have a support system that aligned with training, however, Acupuncture studies took over and time for training went by the wayside, as a high achiever, Samantha needed to put in her all with 7 subjects a semester. All the while missing her Martial Arts days. After graduation, building a business took over until she returned by way of Muay Thai 5 years ago.
Samantha likes to utilise an array of Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic tools and patterns, to form a holistic approach to treatment. Samantha welcomes when the need presents, to work with other health practitioners to create a holistic care plan for her clients. She loves a challenge, so any signs and symptoms you present with, she will greet you with plenty of enthusiasm as she strives to find beneficial solutions. A little secret of Sam’s is she is needle phobic but because of how fine and solid Acupuncture needles are she even does it on herself!!! She likes to take a gentler approach.
